TL; DR | Summary

Bare Witness is the cafe that impresses every diner across all fronts. From a vast selection of food and coffee to the interior and spacious setting, Bare Witness is a cafe that has it all.

Bare Witness Review

Bare Witness feels quite surreal with waterfront views, an extravagant amount of space, and a menu to impress. Loved by locals and visitors alike, it would be hard not to love this place. I guarantee this particular cafe in Sydney will be packed, so get in early.

The food menu consists of all your classic breakfast and brunch dishes and lunchtime favourites such as burgers, pasta and steak. Everyone can enjoy a little something with a few unique additions of Mediterranean and Korean flavours.

The drink selection is excellent. Feel free to enjoy your go to coffee order or iced beveraged such as a frappe. They're the perfect accompaniment to your meal.

The Service At Bare Witness

Despite how busy it can get, the service at Bare Witness is impeccable, and the staff are quick to get your order in and your food served. The team is always on top of things and ensure you never wait around for too long.

You can also tell the owner and those involved have put a lot of thought into this cafe. It comes through in the attention to detail from the second you walk in.

Interior & Setting

The first time I stepped into Bare Witness, I couldn't believe my eyes. I've never seen a cafe with a large open kitchen and plenty of tables set out in a spacious manner, with indoor and outdoor seating options.

The interior is quite open, with high ceilings and an overall light and airy feel. The large glass windows provide water views and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options.

If setting and ambience are your thing, you won't be disappointed at the vibe at Bare Witness.

The Food At Bare Witness

The food menu is done well with dishes that do not fall short of the beautiful presentation when it arrives. I can also verify that the cold beverages such as milkshakes, iced coffee & frappes were prepared well.

We've tried quite a few menu items and can attest that the food is exceptional, with good portions that won't leave you feeling short-changed. It's rare to find a cafe where the food, service, and setting are all top level.

Fun Fact!

Bare Witness is ranked #2 in my Best Cafes in Sydney list. Find out which cafe ranked #1.

Risotto

Honestly, I always thought risotto was just mushy soft rice and being of Asian descent, we tend to like our rice the way we have it at home, soft but al dente.

To my bemusement, the risotto at Bare Witness has multiple textures, adding depth to each bite and becoming an experience of its own. This is definitely the best risotto I've come across in Sydney, and I'm not even a big fan of the dish.

Wild Mushrooms

The wild mushrooms are hands-down a signature-worthy choice and perfect for vegetarians.

The sourdough toast is topped with a generous serving of wild mushrooms, three types to be exact. The dish is also served with a mix of chickpea miso mayo, ricotta cheese, spinach, parmesan, a poached egg, and lemon juice. You'll be hooked from the first bite.

Wagyu Burger

The beef burger is a standard lunchtime favourite so expectations are high. At Bare Witness, you can expect a clean but flavoursome burger.

The wagyu beef patty is a good size and is juicy enough to keep you drooling. A great choice if you want something simple but substantial to eat.

Pasta (limited per day)

The pasta pictured is the prawn bisque pasta and is definitely worth a try. You can often find something similar on the menu, with a few different seasonal elements.

The bisque is flavourful, with a good amount of seafood to keep your taste buds entertained. The pasta is cooked well and not overly done, giving each mouthful the right amount of bite.

Drinks

Despite being standard menu drinks, the frappe and milkshake were enjoyable. The frappe was thick, with a generous amount of topping, whilst the milkshake had a good ratio of ice cream to flavour. You also can't go wrong with coffee here! Robust with a smooth creamy finish, it's a great start to any morning.

I definitely want to try that Prawn Bisque Pasta and Risotto is definitely something l enjoy as the rice is very toothsome so it still has texture. When l choose Risotto on the menu, l’m more drawn to Mushroom Risotto but a seafood based one sounds good to me too.
