Does this spot match the hype?

TL; DR | Summary
Battambang Cambodian Restaurant is an essential stop for anyone living near Cabramatta or those exploring Western Sydney. With two branches in Cabramatta, I highly recommend the John St location for an authentic Cambodian dining experience. In particular, go for their crispy chicken egg noodle!

@bestspots.com.au Battambang Restaurant is an essential stop.. ⬇️ for anyone living near Cabramatta or those exploring Western Sydney 🔎. With two branches in Cabramatta, I highly recommend the John St location for an authentic Cambodian dining experience ✅. In particular, go for their crispy chicken egg noodle! 🤤 Even in the presence of highly renowned rivals like Tan Viet Noodle House, what sets this restaurant apart is the complimentary pork bone broth 🍲 and the unique house-made sauce accompanying the noodles 🍜. The Battambang Restaurant menu has been revamped to offer a wide variety of dishes featuring offal and other less familiar ingredients, promising a bit of an exotic dining experience 😋 🔥 RECOMMENDED 🔥 - Crispy Chicken Egg Noodle - Teochew Fried Rice 🍚 - Red Syrup and Condensed Milk with Ice 📗 To see why I recommend these dishes, the full insight is at bestspots.com.au #battambang #cabramattaeats #cabramatta #cambodianrestaurant #sydneyfoodie ♬ original sound - bestspots.com.au
There are two Battambang restaurants in Cabramatta, and I recommend only visiting the one on John St (Battambang II). Despite both locations sharing the same menu, there's a notable difference in how the dishes are prepared and presented. The John St branch can get busy during peak times like 1pm on a Saturday, but seating is usually available otherwise. I discovered Battambang from a random decision to try a new restaurant, and it has quickly become one of my frequent spots for its crispy chicken egg noodles.

Cambodian restaurants are a rarity in Sydney, and for those unfamiliar with this cuisine, it draws similarities with Vietnamese food. You can expect mainly noodle and rice dishes here, including fried rice and noodle soups. All in all, this restaurant easily ranks in my top recommended eats in Cabramatta.
Battambang II: Better Than The Original?
The atmosphere resembles many Asian restaurants in Cabramatta, bustling with people with a comfortable, homely setup. You can expect fast service, with food arriving shortly after ordering and being promptly served, no matter how busy. The kitchen does an excellent job of consistently delivering their dishes, showcasing Cambodian cuisine's unique flavours and ingredients. Here's what we had:
Crispy Chicken Egg Noodle
This dish is a definite highlight and is my go-to at this restaurant. Opt for the noodle version, and you'll be treated to a fantastic combination of flavours from the noodles and sauce, accompanied by a complimentary, rich pork bone broth that uplifts the dish further. While the chicken falls short compared to Tan Viet restaurant as it could be crisper, the other components more than make up for it!
Crispy Pork Intestines
While intestines aren't to everyone's taste, those who enjoy this delicacy will find Battambang's version crispy with the right texture, making it a unique choice for the adventurous eater.
Steam Chicken with Tomato Rice
To me, this is a decent dish that offers a comforting balance between the tender steamed chicken and the flavourful tomato rice. It's a satisfying meal for those opting for something simple and lighter.
Taochew Fried Rice
This delightful classic Asian dish will satisfy anyone's fried rice cravings. The mix of prawn, Chinese sausage, green onion and seasoning used in this fried rice is restaurant quality spot-on, making each bite of the Taochew Fried Rice a quick and tasty one.
Red Syrup and Condensed Milk with Ice
My absolute favourite drink is at Battambang. It's a pleasantly sweet, milky treat with an enjoyable raspberry flavour that's refreshing and indulgent.

Whether you're a local or just visiting Cabramatta, Battambang is a destination worth adding to your culinary itinerary.
