TL; DR | Summary

A Japanese and Scandinavian twist in a beautiful modern café setting awaits you at Edition Roasters. With drinks that cover a broad spectrum of taste buds and an impressive menu, this is one of the best cafes in Sydney. It's guaranteed to become one of your favourite places to relax with a good book or to meet up with friends.

Edition Roasters Review

A cool, calm & collected environment awaits when visiting Edition Roasters, with the beautiful rustic interior complete with aromatic coffee and a menu that does not disappoint. It also has a unique dark interior, making it the perfect place for a catch-up or a casual first date. With two locations, I recommend visiting the Darling Square location to experience it's beautiful ambience.

The Service At Edition Roasters

The service has been excellent every time I've visited, leaving me happier than I came in. The service is attentive as the staff look after you, providing you with a blanket if needed and preparing your order quickly.

There's outdoor seating for those who want to soak in the sunshine, and people watch. It's quite a relaxing way to spend an afternoon.

The Food At Edition Raosters

While there are limited options on the menu, I can attest that every dish has been finetuned and perfected to give each diner a memorable experience.

The menu does update once in a while, so there's always something new to look forward to. There's also a selection of Japanese and Scandinavian-inspired cookies and pastries available from the front counter, and they all look pretty delicious.

Fun Fact!

Edition Roasters Small dishes

Despite being simple, the small dishes at Edition Roasters are quite fascinating. Even something as standard as eggs is delicately plated and spruced up with puffed rice and greens.

An alternative menu staple is baked banana bread with miso and topped with yuzu butter to give it a lovely tangy edge.

Even more straightforward, they serve an onsen egg and rice, which is just as delicious if you're feeling for home style comfort food.

Danish Rye

I would give the danish rye a miss. I felt the jam and cheese did not pair well together. The jam spread was too overpowering for the delicate cheese, making it a bit of an acquired taste.

The bread was nicely toasted with a slight crunch, but I felt it didn't work in this particular combination.

The dish was nothing to write home about but I do hope it improves.

Otherwise, everything else I've tried has been a hit!

Edition Roasters Larger dishes

If you want something more substantial, their more extensive dish options will not disappoint.

The mains on the menu include udon, burgers and dessert, all of which come with a unique twist. I can assure you that they'll exceed your expectations.

If you have the time, consider ordering their soufflé pancake, which takes about 20 minutes to prepare. I'll definitely order that when I return!

Udon

The udon at Edition Roasters is one of the best you'll taste in Sydney.

The saucy broth was perfectly balanced yet full of flavour and the udon had a great bite, along with the massive chargrilled prawn.

The addition of seaweed and spring onions gave it a lovely leafy mouthfeel and is further enhanced with an onsen egg's creaminess.

Drinks

Don't hesitate to try something from the drink menu, whether it's their coffee or yuzu soda. Both drinks will ensure you'll end your experience on a high note.

The yuzu soda, in particular, was refreshing and had the perfect tang and sweetness.

A visit to Edition Roasters is highly recommended. It'll quickly become one of your favourite cafes in Sydney.

So, next time you're in the city and looking to unwind with good food, consider stopping by this Japanese and Scandinavian-inspired eatery, located in Darling Square.

I am loving the review and photos for this place. Have you considered trying their Izakaya out as well? Supposedly, Edition Roaster transforms into an Izakaya when night hits. I plan to check it out one day when l’m in the area.
