Edmonds And Greer Review

Edmonds & Greer is a lovely cafe in Oatley that’s always popular with locals. It has a warm, farmhouse-style vibe (think Nancy Meyers aesthetic) and a cute homewares and gift shop attached.

If you’re taking your mum, grandma, or aunt out for brunch or Mother’s Day, this place will go down a treat.

Atmosphere And Service

It’s a busy spot, especially during peak times. Expect a wait – even for takeaway.

But when it’s quieter, the service is usually quick and friendly. We went on a Friday around noon and everything came out fast.

Takeaway service is a bit hit or miss. During non-peak hours, the takeaway section is not always staffed, and I’ve had a few visits where I’ve been ignored or left waiting with no staff in sight.

There’s plenty of free street parking, and the neighbourhood’s pretty quiet.

Edmonds And Greer Menu

The Edmonds and Greer menu is packed with the usual cafe staples for breakfast and lunch.

The menu’s a bit quirky – broken into sections depending on the time of day: all day breakfast, breakfast until 12pm, all day lunch, and lunch from 12:15pm to 2:30pm.

Prices are a little on the higher side, but the food is solid and usually worth it.

The only thing that feels overpriced is the chicken sandwich. It’s $20 with no sides. I didn’t try it, but plenty of others did – so maybe it’s really good?

Cappuccino

Large Soy Cappuccino, Half Strength, With One Equal.

They use Allpress Espresso beans here. It’s light, creamy, and honestly one of the best coffees in the area. If you’re a coffee snob, you’ll probably be happy with this one.

Turmeric Latte

Creamy with a good amount of froth. Hard to go wrong with a turmeric latte, and this one hit the mark.

You’re Bun In A Million

Grilled Angus smashed beef burger, caramelised onion, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, house made special sauce, toasted milk bun, side of chips.

Tasted fresh and well put together. I particularly loved the caramelised onion.

It wasn't greasy, had a good balance of ingredients, and was a satisfying feed. I’d order it again.

South American Pita

Cheesy pita pocket filled with sauteed mushrooms, spiced ground beef & salsa de yogur with a leafy side salad.

I’ve never seen a dish like this on a cafe menu before. It’s like a Mediterranean pizza pocket.

Generous filling – lots of cheese, mushrooms, and beef. It’s a salty, rich dish, so the yoghurt salsa helps cut through. I reckon it could use some tomato inside the pita for a touch of sweetness, but it’s still enjoyable.

The salad was a nice touch, with the balsamic dressing and pomegranate.

At $25.50, it’s not the cheapest, but the portion size makes it worthwhile. I’d get it again.

Cakes

There’s always a good selection of cakes, cookies, and pastries on offer. In the mornings, the takeaway tables are filled to the brim with lots of sweet treats to tempt you.

Carrot And Walnut Cake

A big single-serve cake for $7.50. It’s great value.

Tasty, with a good amount of walnuts inside the cake and sweet icing to balance it out. I’d definitely order this again.

Baked Ricotta Cheesecake

Light, fluffy, but slightly too sweet for my taste. Nothing wrong with it, just not as good as the carrot and walnut cake.

RECOMMENDED

  • Dine-in during off-peak times
  • Try the specials
  • Order a treat or two to takeaway

Final Words

Edmonds & Greer is a great spot for coffee, tasty food, and a nice atmosphere. It’s one of the nicer cafes in Oatley.

Cakes and pastries are a highlight, especially the carrot and walnut cake.

It’s a solid cafe overall, especially if you’re not in a rush.
