Flour And Stone Review

Flour And Stone has earned its reputation as one of Sydney's must-visit bakeries.

It offers an inventive range of baked goods, from elegant vanilla slices to sourdough crumpets. You can see the huge range of items available in my Flour And Stone photos below.

If you don't mind a walk from either Town Hall, St James, or Museum stations, you'll be in for a pastry-filled bonanza.

The Flour And Stone menu, which changes daily, keeps every visit exciting with a whole range of sweet and savoury options.

However, be warned that popular baked goods will sell out for the day, so get in early!

While known for their daily baked goods, their cakes deserve special mention. Having ordered a couple for special occasions, I can confidently say they're crowdpleasers.

Whether you're ordering a birthday cake, celebration cake, or simply want a sneaky treat to yourself, the Flour And Stone cakes hit the mark every single time.

And beyond their daily creations, the bakery has a charming pantry range of jams, marmalade, fudge, coffee beans, toasted muesli, cookbooks, and even fresh eggs.

Do note that the baked treats I've tried are only a fraction of what is offered on the Flour And Stone menu.

They constantly surprise me with new creations and seasonal twists, so every visit brings something fresh and exciting to order.

Flour And Stone Menu | Sydney's Best Bakery?

The staff here are welcoming, knowledgeable, and always ready to recommend the day's highlights. You can expect the service to be generally quick and efficient. Here's a peek at the goodies I've had so far:

Brûlée Tart

A creamy custard tart with a crisp caramelised top. Its neat rectangular shape is deceivingly simple, but one bite reveals all the smooth richness you'd expect from a classic brûlée.

Raspberry and Rose Rocky Road

As you can tell from my photo, this bold twist on a rocky road is full of surprises. It's a mix of nuts, marshmallows, dried raspberries, coconut shreds, and rose petals, all coated in velvety chocolate. If you like complex flavours, this is a must.

Fine Apple Tart

A delicate creation with finely sliced apples layered on a buttery pastry base. It's not too sweet, making it ideal for those who enjoy a more balanced dessert.

Quince and Custard Tart

This tart doesn't stand out too much but has a lovely balance of creaminess and tartness from the quince. This intriguing twist on a classic is good if you want to try something different.

Vanilla Slice

The vanilla slice here is a work of art, and I love the layering. It's made with layers of flaky pastry, piped cream, and a vanilla custard filling, topped with icing and a sprinkle of dried raspberry powder for a stunning finish. The flavours are beautifully balanced, and the textures are truly satisfying!

Cakes

I've ordered their carrot cake and old-fashioned vanilla and they were memorable. Be sure to check out their cake range on their website to see for yourself.

RECOMMENDED

  • The brûlée tart is a must for indulgence seekers
  • The vanilla slice is as stunning to look at as it is to eat
  • Try the raspberry and rose rocky road
  • Order a cake for your next celebration
