Hot Hot Hot Malatang Review
@bestspots.com.au A gem for anyone seeking a memorable Malatang experience ✅ While Mascot may be an odd trip for many, I can confirm that Hot Hot Hot Malatang is worth that detour 😜! Its extensive selection of fresh ingredients and vast combinations of condiments adds a fully customisable and flavourful Malatang experience 🍲, elevating it into one of my top picks for Malatang 💯. There's a variety of soup options, including beef bone, rich tomato soup, spicy sour and Sichuan spicy soup 🌶️ on top of other usual malatang base broths 👌. What makes this Malatang restaurant stand out, in particular, is its well-thought-out range of condiments 👌, offering up to 19 sauces and garnishes 🤩. Your hot pot can be different every time you visit with these possibilities ✨! Like most Malatang places, the service is efficient, quick, and a quick turnaround from when you place your order, ensuring an enjoyable dining experience 🤗. What I like particularly about this broth is that it's robust on its own, not needing some kind of flavour enhancer like salt, MSG or fish sauce, which is refreshing 😊! It's always reassuring to know that the broth has been made with heaps of tenderness, love and care 💖 over many hours, which is a step many other malatang places skip over in favour of time. 📕 For the full scoop, check out bestspots.com.au #sydneyfoodblog #sydneyfoodbloggers #sydneysiders #foodiesydney #sydneyfooddiary ♬ Au Revoir - Sweet After Tears
In the heart of Mascot, you'll find streets lined with bustling new restaurants and Hot Hot Hot Malatang is a gem for anyone seeking a tasty Malatang experience. What makes it stand out from the competition? There's a huge selection of ingredients and condiments on offer and the flavourful soup bases will easily tempt you to slurp the entire bowl. It's a foodie paradise for those who love and appreciate the heart-warming but humble Malatang experience.
I would definitely go back should I be in the area, and would happily make the trip specifically to enjoy another round of their noodle bowls. I can say for sure that this meal will beat anything you can find at the airport, so you might even like to make a sneaky detour here the next time you head to a flight. The immediate punch of the flavours and a whole heaping of ingredients and condiments to further enhance the experience make it well worth the unusual journey!
Unique & Authentic Malatang Noodle Bowls
The highlight of Hot Hot Hot Malatang lies in the endless combinations of fresh ingredients you can choose from. There's a customised bowl for everyone no matter your preference for noodles, meat, seafood, vegetables, tofu, toppings, broth etc.
What makes this Malatang restaurant stand out, in particular, is its well-thought-out range of condiments, offering up to 19 sauces and garnishes! Your hot pot can be different every time you visit with these possibilities! Like most Malatang places, the service is efficient and quick, ensuring an enjoyable dining experience.
The interior and exterior of the restaurant are quite warm, spacious and welcoming, making you feel at ease as you dive into your deliciously comforting bowl of soup.
Bonus: If you're a local or visit the area often, the loyalty card enables you to get $5 off and 50% off after you hit the required number of stamps.
In addition, you can also satisfy any sweet cravings after your meal by taking them up on their fresh fruit offer if you are a member (although personally, I've seen them offer fruit straight-up to non-members too). To this day, I've yet to come across another Malatang restaurant that offers fruit in general.
How far would you travel for a bowl of noodles?
Visiting Hot Hot Hot is a breeze. It's less than a 5 minute walk from Mascot train station and there's an abundance of parking options nearby. This ease of accessibility only adds to the restaurant's comfort appeal, making it clearly an effortless choice for a delicious meal out in Mascot.
Reasonably priced Malatang noodles
Priced at $16.99 per 500 grams for most broths, the cost at Hot Hot Hot aligns well with the pricing norms established by popular Malatang restaurants such as No.1 Malatang and Chungking Malatang.
The broader Sydney area has a pricing range from around $13.00 to $17.50 per 500g, with the median price hovering around $17.00 per 500g. But considering the weight in food and full customisation offered, it's still considered a cheap feed.
To me, it's not merely about getting what you pay for; it's about savouring a hearty meal tailored to your palette, and walking away feeling both satisfied and pleasantly surprised by the value.
An Endless Selection Of Ingredients & Condiments
If you think you've seen all the noodle varieties possible for Malatang, you're mistaken. The Hot Hot Hot Malatang photos don't do it justice. They've got noodles bursting out of the shelves! You've got the typical rice noodle offerings but are also introduced to options like Mi Goreng, carrot noodles, vegetable noodles, ramen, udon, and sweet potato noodle. Talk about a noodle lover's paradise!
And for the carnivores out there, the meat selection is bountiful also. You'll find various types of sliced and marinated meats, meatballs, dumplings, and sausages. They've also catered to the adventurous palate, offering offal options such as intestines and pork tongue.
Then, a seafood extravaganza awaits you in their seafood selection. You'll find mussels, scallops, crayfish, clams, fish, squid, and fish roe balls here. It's important to mention that there are both real and imitation seafood offerings, and some are frozen. Nonetheless, it's an assortment of seafood that outshines other Malatang establishments.
Prefer a vegetarian or vegan Malatang bowl? They've got you covered. The vegetable offerings at Hot Hot Hot are nothing short of vast. There's an entire row dedicated to leafy greens like lettuce, cabbage, choy sum, and various types of spinach. And there's more - think broccoli, potatoes, asparagus, corn, pumpkin, and an assortment of mushrooms! It's a veggie wonderland that enhances your Malatang bowl with fresh and healthy options, keeping you guilt-free and hitting that 5 servings of veggies goal.
Now, that's just the ingredients. What about the condiments? There are 4 main types of condiments you can add to your bowl to top off your meal:
- Vegetables and herbs including shallot/green onion, coriander, celery, garlic mince, fried onion
- Nuts and seeds including ground peanut, fried soybean, peanut paste, sesame paste
- Oils including sesame oil, pepper oil, chilli oil
- Sauces and vinegar including oyster sauce, soy sauce, preserved bean curd sauce, Sichuan special chilli soy sauce, Chinkiang vinegar
Lastly, let's talk drinks and beverages. While self-serve table water is provided, if you're after something more, Tea Republic is conveniently located right next door which offers a diverse selection of refreshing bubble teas.
Signature Spicy Malatang
As a chilli addict, I will always opt for the spicy option. Every Malatang post on bestspots.com.au will ALWAYS feature the iconic spicy soup. This dish really shines when you begin to add your chosen ingredients. Whether you opt for a selection of tender meats, crisp vegetables, or their special handmade noodles, each element is enhanced by this fiery broth.
So, does Hot Hot Hot live up to it's name? What I like particularly about this broth is that it's robust on its own, not needing some kind of flavour enhancer like salt, MSG or fish sauce, which is refreshing! It's always reassuring to know that the broth has been made with heaps of tenderness, love and care over many hours, which is a step many other Malatang places skip over in favour of time. I could easily order this every time, but for the sake of bestspots.com.au visitors like yourself, I will try the other flavours next time I visit.
