Huong Que Review

I can't believe I've lived near Cabramatta for so long without trying out Huong Que!

Tucked inside the No.1 Shopping Centre, this little Vietnamese eatery is easily missed as there are plenty of Asian food options in Cabramatta. But trust me, once you find it, you'll wonder why it took you so long to give this place a go, especially for their signature dish.

Fun Fact!

Huong Que is ranked #9 in my Best Restaurants in Cabramatta list. Find out which restaurant ranked #1.

You might have guessed from the TL; DR section that everyone visits for the Bo Ne (a Vietnamese breakfast classic).

For just $13 (as of 2024), you're treated to a complete meal that arrives sizzling hot and fully loaded. You get a tender and flavourful steak, Asian-style fried egg, savoury pate, and fresh veggies.

This is all served with a soft, in-house baked banh mi. The bread alone is worth the visit as the bread is really fluffy while remaining crisp on the outer layer. It's actually one of the best I've had!

Sadly, the owner only serves this bread with the meal and won't sell it on its own (I tried asking).

Huong Que Menu & Favourites

The food at Huong Que is simple but packed with flavour, making it a go-to spot for Vietnamese comfort food at an unbeatable price.

Bo Ne

This sizzling hot dish includes marinated steak, a fried egg, pate, and fresh veggies like lettuce, tomato, and pickled carrots. The steak is juicy and tender, and honestly, it's so well-seasoned that you don't even need the soy-based dipping sauce (though it's too good to waste).

The complimentary bread that comes with the Bo Ne deserves its own little section here. It's perfectly crisp outside without being too hard to bite, while the inside stays soft and fluffy. The fact that it's made in-house shows the care that goes into the food here.

Com Bo Luc Lac (Shaking Beef)

This Shaking Beef with onions and steamed rice was decent, but there are definitely better versions elsewhere in Cabramatta. However, considering the price range of the dishes, which is between $11 and $14, it's still good value.

RECOMMENDED

  • Bo Ne
  • Anything with their Banh Mi
  • Try their homemade soy sauce
  • Venturing to try their other dishes because you never know what else could be delish

Final Words

Huong Que is quite an unknown gem in Cabramatta, and for just $13, you get one of the best Bo Ne experiences around. This place knows how to do it right, from the in-house bread to the perfectly marinated steak. There are also plenty of other dishes to try, which would be good to explore since you'll revisit the Bo Ne once you've had it.

Have you tried this spot, or are you planning to visit? Let me know your thoughts about their Bo Ne, as I'm keen to know if there are other good Bo Ne spots in Sydney.
