Ippudo Ramen Sydney Review
@bestspots.com.au Experience a refined and elegant form of ramen at Ippudo ⬇️ The perfectly cooked noodles are paired with freshly prepared ingredients to make a mouth-watering soup that will guarantee your return 😜. The restaurant features all your favourite soup bases including tonkotsu and shoyu, along with seafood and rice dishes with a touch of modern flair 🤗 The quality of the food is top-notch, with the delicate balance of flavour, textures, and combinations of ingredients coming together to create a fantastic ramen 🍜 experience you would quickly return for. I recommend their $25 lunch special which consists of a bowl of ramen of your choosing and a choice of takoyaki 🦑, karaage chicken, or gyoza dumplings 🥟. I can confirm both the gyoza and karaage chicken are delicious and worth the extra cost. Nestled in the corner of Sydney's Westfield, Ippudo is not your typical food court eatery. The restaurant has a beautiful interior with a dimmed atmosphere. Plus, the welcoming and friendly staff ensure that you have a consistently pleasant ramen experience. The Ippudo Sydney menu consists of traditional ramen dishes and optional additions to spruce up your bowl, so it's an ideal spot for intimate gatherings.

You can also expect their other locations in Chatswood or Macquarie to offer a similar quality experience as you would find in Sydney Westfield.
High Quality Ramen & Friendly Service
The food is top-notch, and is easily one of the top 5 ramen restaurants in Sydney. The dishes are delicious, the broth is flavoursome, and there are great accompaniments. What more could you ask for?
Service is always friendly and accommodating, with the classy interior designed in such an immaculate manner, making each visit a pleasant experience.
The restaurant has made changes throughout the years. For example, you used to be able to choose your preferred noodle texture. Nevertheless, Ippudo remains one of the top ramen establishments in Sydney by maintaining the quality of ramen.
In terms of price, it is on the higher end. The standard ramen starts around the $18 mark and it can quickly add up to $26 once you add sides.
The only downside I can point out with the ramen is that their boiled egg needs to be marinated more. It's a small criticism, but easily remedied.
Gyoza
Pan-fried pork dumplings with yuzukosho paste
These gyoza are consistently delicious. The outer part is nicely crisped, whilst the filling is juicy and well-seasoned. The yuzukosho paste is a great compliment and adds a citrus element to the dish. The gyozas here are so good that you don't need any gyoza sauce!
Karaage Chicken
Marinated fried chicken thigh with lemon and shichimi pepper mayo
The karaage chicken is well-executed, with crispiness on the outside and juiciness on the inside. The marinade is a good balance of salty and sweet, with a hint of garlic. The lemon and shichimi pepper mayo are a great addition, bringing out the tasty Japanese-style fried chicken flavour profile.
Wagyu Spring Roll
Sukiyaki-style wagyu filling with teriyaki mayo dip
The only disappointing dish I've tasted so far is the wagyu spring roll. The wagyu filling was dry and lacked flavour, whilst the sauce was an odd blend not suited to a spring roll. This is a miss for me and I would recommend skipping this one when you visit.
Akamaru Special Ramen
Tonkotsu broth with medium-thin straight noodles, pork belly chashu, black fungus, spring onions, fragrant garlic oil, secret miso paste and half egg
I went for the premium option in this bowl of modern ramen, the Akamaru Special. The broth is rich and flavoursome, with a beautiful hint of black garlic oil, chilli pork and the perfect pairing of toppings. The two kinds of chashu pork slices are tender with a good amount of umami and the ramen noodles are cooked to perfection.
I only wish the egg was marinated more, as it didn't add much flavour to the overall experience and felt more like a plain-boiled egg.
Overall, if you are okay with spending about $25 on a bowl of ramen, the Akamaru Special hits the spot.
Karaka-Men Ramen
Tonkotsu broth, thin wavy noodles, spicy minced pork miso, pork belly chashu, bean sprouts, spring onions, half egg and cashew nuts garnish
The Karaka-men is a mix of tonkotsu broth with the addition of their spicy minced pork miso. It is less spicy than my personal preferences, but it still has good flavouring. The thin wavy noodles bring great texture to the bowl, and the pork belly chashu is cooked well.
The overall flavour profile is balanced, and the cashew nuts add further crunch to the dish.
Tori Shoyu
Clear chicken broth, medium wavy noodles, chicken chashu, flavoured bamboo shoots, chopped leek, spring onions, roasted seaweed, naruto fish cake and half egg
The Tori Shoyu is an excellent choice for those who aren't the biggest fan of prok and are looking for something light and flavoursome. The clear chicken broth has a nice balance of flavours between the chicken, leek, and seaweed. The chicken chashu is tender, and the noodles have a nice bite. Plus, you can't go wrong with naruto fish cake and half an egg.
Overall, this is a pretty solid bowl and a great alternative to pork.
