Amidst the bustling streets of Sydney CBD, Kabuki Shoroku radiates an aura of tranquillity and sophistication. From the moment you step inside, you're immediately welcomed into a serene environment designed to thoughtfully capture the essence of traditional Japanese aesthetics.

As you can see from the Kabuki Shoroku Japanese Restaurant photos, no expense has been spared when it comes to decor and ambience. Amazingly, every detail, from the delicate plating to the ambient lighting, contributes to the restaurant's allure. You'll be left in awe of the interior alone!

With such an atmosphere that strikes the perfect balance between upscale elegance and simplicity, it's no surprise that Kabuki Shoroku has become a favourable spot for those seeking a quiet, intimate dining space. While you're expected to make a dent in your wallet dining here, you can expect the food and service to closely match.

This family-owned restaurant is located centrally in Sydney's CBD. There's free parking nearby at Wilson Parking (Underground at 204 Clarence Street) after 6pm Tuesday to Saturday when you validate your parking at the restaurant. Alternatively, if you're arriving by train, it's a quick 3 minute walk from Town Hall station.

High-End Japanese Food & Service

At Kabuki, it's evident that sushi-making is not just a culinary process but an art form. Not only is the restaurant set up pleasing to the eyes, but you'll also find this apparent in the Kabuki Shoroku menu and how their dishes are presented.

But beyond its pristine setting, the Kabuki Shoroku restaurant also delivers an exquisite culinary journey. Then, to compliment the food and atmosphere, the staff add a professional, polite, and attentive touch to the restaurant experience. Their deep understanding of the menu and customer needs ensures that guests always receive recommendations that enhance their dining experience.

Fun Fact!

Kabuki Shoroku is ranked #10 in my Best Sushi Restaurants in Sydney list. Find out which restaurant ranked #1.

Grilled Giant Scampi

The scampi meat is grilled to perfection, ensuring the exterior has a slight char, providing that smoky aroma, while the inside remains succulent and tender.

However, when I see a $22 "giant" scampi on the menu, I'm expecting an impressive and sizeable chunk of meat to devour. This scampi while it is larger than usual, it's not large enough to justify the price.

Overall, it's a solid entrée in taste and texture, but I would not order this again purely because of its steep price tag and serving size.

Deluxe Sushi Selection

Experience Kabuki Shoroku's sushi craftsmanship with this deluxe selection of pure sushi freshness served to order. This assortment showcases a variety of the freshest catch of the day, ranging from classic salmon and tuna to the delicate and subtle scallop and prawn. It's also got a couple of my other favourites, unagi eel nigiri and ikura maki (salmon roe fish egg) sushi. This combination of sushi is essentially all the classics you'd find in traditional and authentic Japanese sushi. However, if raw sushi isn't your cup of tea, there's a cooked/seared version of the deluxe sushi selection.

The only downside is that nothing stood out in particular, and there is no premium sushi such as otoro (fatty tuna) and salmon belly. There's also nothing you can't find at a similar sushi restaurant, so you will likely already know what is being offered. Regardless, each sushi piece is meticulously crafted, ensuring the rice is perfectly seasoned and holds just the right amount of bite to complement the fish's natural flavours. This selection is for those looking for the classics executed well but don't expect anything out of the ordinary or revolutionary.

Miso Soup

Made with a rich and savoury miso base, you can expect a good mouthful of depth with every sip. It can't be faulted and is prepared thoughtfully with the softness of the silken tofu and the textures of the wakame seaweed. This isn't the quick pre-made kind of miso, but rather a lovingly brewed version that showcases the delicate touch of Kabuki Shoroku's dishes on Japanese meals. It's the type of miso that reminds you of the depth and intricacy Japanese cuisine can offer, even in its simplest forms.

  • Any sushi selection

Final Words

Kabuki Shoroku is a restaurant that offers an exquisite Japanese experience. With the tranquil ambience and the delicate sushi preparation, every moment spent here celebrates Japanese culture. Whether you're visiting for an important business meeting or a heartwarming gathering of friends and family, Kabuki Shoroku ensures an experience that's both intimate and unforgettable. Best for intimate gatherings over fine-quality classic sushi.

Prefer something a little more casual? Kabuki Shoroku has a sister restaurant across the corridor, Sakuratei Japanese Restaurant, where they offer varieties of Izakaya style dining for dinner and Teishoku lunch meals.
