Lode Pies And Pastries Review

If there’s an art gallery for pastries in Sydney, this might be it. Lode Pies prices are in the $15-$20 range and the cost reflects the artisanal touch involved in these edible works of baked art.

Both their savoury and sweet offerings are praiseworthy, and they have a bakery range that’s truly stunning with innovative takes on the classics.

Expect the most beautiful pies and pastries you've ever seen. You just need to look at a few of my Lode Pies And Pastries photos below to understand.

I’ll never forget their distinctive designs as they’ve left a lasting impression in my mind.

When visiting Lode Pies & Pastries, you’ll find their items displayed in a minimalist glass case. They typically showcase 8-10 baked goods at a time, each a temptation.

I couldn’t help but try almost the entire menu. Either way, you’re in for a memorable bakery experience.

Lode Pies And Pastries Menu

This is no ordinary bakery. You’ll find yourself exploring texture, design, and flavour. Service is efficient, though queues can form quickly, especially during weekends.

Lode Pithivier

Caramelised pork, shiitake mushrooms, and chicken gravy.

Arguably one of the best fancy pies I’ve ever eaten. This signature pie has a pork and mushroom filling that is rich and comforting, while the pastry remains buttery and crisp.

At over $20, it’s a splurge, but you won’t regret it.

Pain au Chocolat

Chocolate croissant.

A classic chocolate croissant with a stunning design. The texture is flaky perfection, and the artistic design makes it almost too beautiful to eat (but I ate it all anyway).

Blueberry Tart with Custard Cream and Fresh Blueberries

Custard cream and fresh blueberry tart.

This was an instant favourite of mine. The custard was silky and worked well with the plump, fresh blueberries.

Note that the current version of this tart has a matcha-infused cream. I don't think that the newer version lives up to the original in size and ratio.

Crown On 487

White chocolate, raspberry, rose and pistachio croissant.

A hefty but one-of-a-kind croissant shaped like a crown. It has a nice balance of sweetness and flakiness with intricate layers, making each bite delectable. This only comes out on special occasions but is worth sharing if you manage to get your hands on it.

Sausage Roll

Pork sausage roll with housemade tomato sauce.

A gourmet version of an Aussie classic. The tangy housemade tomato sauce perfectly balances the rich and flavourful sausage roll. Sadly, this has been off the menu for a while. Bring it back, Lode!

Final Words

Lode Pies redefines what a bakery can be, merging artistry and flavour in every bite. While it’s pricier, the experience is well worth it for pastry lovers or anyone looking to treat themselves to Sydney’s best.
