Meat Lovers Pizza With Pepperoni, Salami, And Cheese

TL; DR | Summary

Home to one of the most welcoming kebab owners in Sydney, Metro One Kebab Ashfield is all about giving customers a warm and inviting experience. With fresh halal snack packs, pizzas, and pides, you're guaranteed a quick, affordable feed served by people who love their work. While it isn't the best snack pack in Sydney, the lovely service will win me back.

Metro One Kebab Review

If you're looking for a hearty and affordable kebab in Sydney's Inner West, Metro One is the place to visit. The photos don't lie. The kebabs are stuffed with filling! I guaranteed you'll leave with a full belly without having to break the bank.

This shop has a reputation of serving the best halal snack packs (HSP) in Sydney, unfortunately, I would have to disagree. Despite what others may say, I thought the meat was average.

But the owner and service are more than enough to compensate for it! The shop may be small in size but it's large in vibrancy. The friendly shop owner will ensure you're more than satisfied with your meal through his bubbly and generous nature.

So, if you're in the Inner West and craving an affordable and filling late-night snack (the shop closes at 12am every night), be sure to drop by Metro One Kebab.

Not your average kebab shop

In the fast food industry, you don't often see owners and staff love their craft. This shop is different.

The owner is welcoming, full of personality, and great to converse with. If you're not in a rush, I definitely recommend getting to know him. You're sure to have a laugh. Even the online ordering through Menulog has his sense of humour injected into it.

The food is standard for a kebab shop, where nothing really stands out, but you can expect extensive and filling portions for a fair price.

In addition to kebabs and snack packs, there are a range of pizzas, gozleme, and burgers. So far, the kebabs are my favourite item on the Metro One Kebab menu as they're stuffed with meat and veggies, leaving you feeling full and content.

Mixed Kebab

In the mixed kebab, you can expect to be fully loaded with your choice of doner meat, lettuce, tomato, onion etc. It's a surefire way to get a hearty feed. It's my recommendation if you're looking for a quick and filling meal to go.

Mixed Halal Snack Pack (HSP)

I've been able to try both the beef and chicken HSP. In terms of taste, the beef is slightly better with the chicken being a little bland for my liking.

Nothing stood out with the HSP (as it's hard to stand out with your standard meat, chips, and sauce), but I may have to try to eat it straight away rather than eating it at home, as that could make a difference.

Pizza

Although the pizza looked amazing, it was lacking in flavour and didn't stand out. There were a lot of toppings, though, so I can't say I was disappointed, just underwhelmed.

Turkish Bread

The bread is baked in-store every day, so it's always warm and fresh.

The Turkish bread is delicious and can be enjoyed as part of the garlic, feta and mozzarella cheese pide. The pide is at the top of my list of things to try at my next visit.

Rice Dessert

While I'm not typically the biggest fan of rice dessert, it's a classic in Middle Eastern culture. So, I would still recommend ordering it to have a taste of something different. It's a sweet rice pudding that is rich and creamy, with notes of cinnamon.

RECOMMENDED

  • Kebabs (as it is loaded)
  • Pizza size box Snack Pack is a must for the truly hungry

Final Thoughts

Overall, I recommend giving Metro One Kebab a try when you're in the Inner West - you won't regret it! In general, portion sizes and affordable prices make the food here a great choice, with Turkish snack packs and kebabs starting in the $9-$10 range.
