New York Hot Dog With Onions, Pickle Radish, Ketchup, Mustard, Philly Sauce Or Mac Daddy Sauce

TL; DR | Summary

Philliez is an American-inspired chain of casual restaurants serving up burgers, chicken ribs, hot dogs, Philly cheese steaks, mushrooms and more. Despite some negative reviews, I think it's better than what is said online and worth a try if you're looking for some American street food.

Philiez Review

With over 20 burgers on the Philliez menu as well as cheese steaks, hot dogs, loaded fries, and sides, there's a lot of satisfaction found at Philliez.

It's not common to find good American food in Sydney so I'm glad to know Philliez has various locations including Beverly Hills, Edmonson Park, Brighton Le Sands, Chester Hill, and Minchinbury.

This review focuses on the Beverly Hills location. For starters, there is a vast menu featuring various American classics. The food is either a hit or miss, where a miss is decent food that could use some improvements.

The hot dog has exciting combinations and is one of my personal favourites as it comes with various sauces to try. On the other hand, I would give the cheesesteaks a miss as they lack flavour and don't do the sandwich justice. The burgers are average and can be greasy. I don't think they are the most balanced burgers.

It's a joint worth visiting but you may need to explore the menu to find a great meal.

Philliez American-Inspired Food & Service

The fast food chain is not overly busy so you can expect fast service and speedy delivery of your food. There's also a lot of space inside, so you'll easy snag a table and there's plenty of street parking surrounding the restaurant, making it a good place to visit if you're looking for a quick meal without the hassle.

In terms of the food, it's important to remember that it is a fast food chain, so don't expect anything mindblowing. It does a fair job of replicating American-inspired comfort food but it's not exactly what you would get if you were in the States.

New York Hot Dog

Onions, pickle relish, ketchup, mustard, Philly sauce or mac daddy sauce

Chicago Dog

Beef Rashers, pickle relish, onions, lettuce, tomato, American cheese, ketchup, mustard, Philly sauce

The hot dogs are the most surprising hit on the menu. They come with 4 sauces including ketchup, mustard, cheese sauce, and pickle relish.

The red, yellow, and green colours make a great visual and gives the hot dog some extra character. It's not your typical snag found at a sausage sizzle!

The sausages have been grilled with a slightly charred taste and the bread is toasted well. It's everything you could ask for in a hot dog. There are also intriguing ingredients such as beef rashers, beef frankfurts, and pepperoni.

I'll definitely be coming back to try more!

Cheese Steak

Unfortunately, the cheese steak was a massive disappointment and fell short of what I expect of this classic Philadelphia sandwich.

The meat didn't appear to be of high quality and the lack of flavour made for a pretty dry sandwich. In all honesty, it's not worth your time or money and you're better off trying something else.

Chicken Ribs

Rather than ordering a cheese steak, I can recommend the chicken ribs! The sauce is just as good as the one on the hot dog and it feels tender in the mouth.

It's perfect for those who love chicken wings but want something easier to eat.

Magic Mushrooms

The crispy magic mushrooms on the menu are a worthy mention and are surprisingly addictive. Whilst I'm not a big fan of mushrooms, these were golden and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

Hat Trick Burger

Smash patty, beef rashers, egg, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, BBQ, Philly sauce or Mac Daddy Sauce

With over 20 burgers to choose from, you're sure to find something with traditional American ingredients.

The Hat Trick Burger was no exception. Filled to the brim with toppings, it's definitely a hearty burger. However, it was on the greasy side.

I can appreciate that this is a burger you would find in a standard fast-food restaurant in America, but they could ease up on the grease.

RECOMMENDED

  • Hot dogs
  • Chicken Ribs

Final Words

Overall, it's a great place to visit if you're looking for some American comfort food without having to book a ticket overseas. The hot dogs are my favourite, but there's a good variety of food on offer, so you're bound to find something to your liking. It's not going to be the best food you've ever had, but it's sufficient for American-inspired fast food.
