Pho Tau Bay Review

If you're searching for a pho experience that nails authentic flavours, Pho Tau Bay in Cabramatta should be at the top of your list.

This traditional Vietnamese restaurant is open bright and early at 7am and closes around 7pm.

It delivers everything you'd expect from a conventional Vietnamese pho spot. With its typical Asian decor, complete with statues and Chinese writing on the walls, it really feels like a place you'd expect in Asia.

While they do offer other dishes like rice and noodles, let's be real, pho is why you're here!

Fun Fact!

Pho Tau Bay is ranked #3 in my Best Restaurants in Cabramatta list. Find out which restaurant ranked #1.

And for those who, like me, can't stand coriander (seriously, why does it even exist?), Pho Tau Bay doesn't automatically top your bowl with it.

Like many pho restaurants, you have free reign on the extras with hoisin, chilli sauce, and fresh toppings. Their broth is perfectly seasoned, delivering that rich, authentic taste that makes it a Cabramatta favourite.

As you can see in the Pho Tau Bay Cabramatta photos in this review, it does get packed during lunch hours, but just plan ahead, as it'll be worth it.

The only reason it’s a 9.5 out of 10 is that the service isn’t quite as refined as you’d find elsewhere, though it’s typical of most spots in Cabramatta.

Pho Tau Bay Menu | Order The Pho

It's all about the pho here, and every bowl delivers. The broth is spot-on: rich, aromatic, and full of flavour. I've always stuck with the beef options, and they never disappoint.

Beef Pho with Rare Beef and Beef Balls

This classic combo hits all the right notes. The rare beef is tender and practically melts in the broth, while the beef balls add a nice chewy contrast. For that extra kick, just add a bit of hoisin and chilli.

Beef Pho with Cooked Beef and Brisket

This is the bowl for you if you prefer your meat cooked through. The thinly sliced brisket soaks up all the flavours of the broth, making for a hearty and satisfying meal.

RECOMMENDED

  • Order the beef pho, half rare beef and beef brisket is my go-to (you'd have to ask for this as it's not a menu item)
  • Add hoisin and fresh chilli for that perfect balance
  • Avoid the lunchtime rush

Final Words

Pho Tau Bay in Cabramatta has been one of my all-time favourite pho spots in Sydney for a long time. And if you're not a local, I promise it's worth the trip to Cabramatta every time. This pho has everything from a broth with depth and generous portions of toppings.

For any pho enthusiasts you won't be disappointed (unless you love your coriander on pho). Have any questions or want to share your Pho experience? Comment below!
