Phu Quoc Cabramatta Review

Phu Quoc is the go-to spot for fresh, hands-on Vietnamese cuisine in the heart of Cabramatta.

It's popular with locals who appreciate authentic Vietnamese flavours, just look for the big blue sign.

This Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant shines with its signature DIY rice paper rolls, allowing diners to customise their meal with fresh herbs, meats, and sauces. I wouldn't go anywhere else for DIY Vietnamese rolls!

Fun Fact!

Phu Quoc is ranked #4 in my Best Restaurants in Cabramatta list. Find out which restaurant ranked #1.

You'll also find traditional Vietnamese staples like curries, noodle bowls, and vermicelli salads.

One delightful touch is the complimentary pandan-infused tea, which adds a fragrant and refreshing twist to the meal. This kind of complimentary tea is very rare.

Like other Cabramatta Asian restaurants, the interior is simplistic and welcoming, so it's always a good spot for a quick bite.

The portions are fair, and the pricing isn't too bad, but it may be a bit steep compared to other restaurants in Cabramatta.

The additional sauces and condiments like fish sauce, hoisin, and chilli allow you to spruce up your dish and customise it to your tastes.

Phu Quoc Menu | Classic Vietnamese And Chinese Dishes

Service is prompt, even during busy lunch hours, and the staff are friendly and helpful, especially when guiding diners through the DIY experience. Here are the dishes I've tried so far:

Banh Hoi Dat Viet Platter

This platter is an absolute standout. It features Vietnamese sugar cane prawns, nem nuong (pork sausage), crispy spring rolls, lemongrass pork, and steamed rice noodles.

When dipped in warm/hot water, the rice paper rolls will make it easy to wrap everything together with fresh herbs and pickled vegetables.

Each ingredient is cooked perfectly, delivering a balanced and delicious bite every time.

Salty Fish and Chicken Fried Rice

This dish was a letdown for me. Despite its vibrant presentation, the chicken lacked seasoning and was quite dry. At the same time, the salty fish didn't contribute much flavour. I'd pass on this dish.

RECOMMENDED

  • Any vermicelli (Banh Hoi) platters of your preferred meat
  • Helping yourself to the free complimentary pandan-infused tea
  • Explore their noodle and rice dishes if you want something other than DIY rolls

Final Words

Phu Quoc offers a memorable, authentic Vietnamese dining experience, especially for those who enjoy DIY customised meals.

While not every dish is a hit, their rice paper roll platters are a must-try.
