Pierre The Local Donut Man Popup Review
Pierre has converted the old Italian restaurant in Oatley into a donut shop with a simple setup — and honestly, that’s all you need for a donut pop-up.
From what I’ve heard, Pierre used to run the Italian restaurant but unfortunately had to shut down. To cover some of the rent until the end of the lease, he is running the donut popup on weekends.
Honestly, I hope he’s able to keep it going because he makes some seriously good donuts – and we’re not the only ones who think so. Pierre tends to sell out fast, so get in early.
We went on opening day and there was already a steady stream of people dropping by to show their support.
As of now, the popup is open on Saturdays and Sundays on the following dates: 12th, 13th, 19th, 20th, 26th, 27th of April, and 3rd and 4th of May.
And if you're looking for a solid coffee to go with your donuts, Edmonds & Greer up the street have the some of the best coffee in Oatley.

Pierre The Local Donut Man Menu
Donuts range from $3.50 to $6.00 depending on what you get. If you want to try a few, I recommend ordering a box of 4 or 6 to save a few dollars.
Pierre also sells scrolls, but I haven’t tried those yet — definitely on my list for next time.
Gaytime Donut Round
Let me start by saying that the base donut for all the rounds is spot on – soft, fluffy, and not too sweet. It’s a solid base for any flavour.
Now, Biscoff may be the new trendy flavour in town, but Gaytime is a true Aussie classic. It’s the standout donut for me.
It’s got that classic combo of toffee, chocolate, and biscuit crumb. Would absolutely get this one again and I highly recommend.
Oreo Donut Round
Oreo is another classic. Sweet but not too sweet and had a nice crunch from the crumbled Oreo cookies. Can’t complain about this one, we polished it off quick when we got home.
Pistachio Donut Round
I’ve always been a fan of pistachio. It’s my go to ice cream flavour and I love seeing the rise in more pistachio flavoured treats.
This donut is topped with pistachio cream and crushed pistachios, with even more cream in the middle. The flavour was nutty and tasted great, but it was a bit too rich for me, especially with the additional cream in the middle.
If you like a donut packed with rich filling, this might be your thing.
Crème Brulee Donut Round
This was the only letdown in the box. While the custard inside was tasty, the brulee topping was too thick and really hard to bite through. If it was thinner and easier to crack – like a real crème brulee – it wouldn’t been much better.
Good idea, but it just needs a tweak.
RECOMMENDED
- Get there early – he sells out fast
- Order a box of 4 or 6 to try a mix
- Don’t miss the Gaytime donut
Final Words
Pierre’s popup really impressed me. I’ll definitely be going back to try more flavours.
If you’re in the area, it’s worth a visit – for the donuts and to support a local small business doing something delicious.
