Soju Social Review

Disclaimer: I visited Soju Social Korean Bar & Restaurant during a PR foodie event, but my reviews are always honest and unbiased.

@bestspots.com.au Looking for a spot where Korean food meets a night of fun? ⬇️⁣ ⁣ Soju Social in Bankstown has you covered! 🌟 Invited by @thefuagency, I checked out this vibrant hangout nestled in Little Saigon Plaza. With its neon lights and chic setup, it’s the kind of place where the night only gets better ✨, especially with pool 🎱, darts 🎯, and karaoke 🎤 just around the corner. ⁣ ⁣ The menu? A delightful fusion of traditional and modern Korean flavours. For instance, there's the crispy Snow Cheese Fried Chicken 🍗 or you can choose to dive into a hearty bowl of Jajangmyeon 🍜 with Pork Belly. Then there's also the Volcano Kimchi 🌶️ Fried Rice with melted cheese 🧀 which is comfort on a plate! ⁣ ⁣ Pair your meal with a Mango 🥭 Soju Slushy with popping pearls or keep it non-alcoholic with their Berry-Licious Mocktail 🍓. Whether you’re in for a chill night or a full-blown hangout, Soju Social delivers every time 🍹⁣ ⁣ 📘 For the complete insight, you can find it at bestspots.com.au⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #sojusocial #bankstown #littlesaigonplaza #bankstowneats #koreanrestaurant ♬ Nasty - Tinashe

Soju Social is where good vibes meet lots of Korean food with plenty of drinks for a fun night out. As a buzzing hangout spot in Bankstown, it's the perfect place to enjoy a meal with fun activities like pool, darts, and karaoke (nearby).

With its neon signage and chic interior, Soju Social sets a lively tone within Little Saigon Plaza. There's also tonnes of seating and plenty of fun activities to keep you entertained.

Soju Social is about having a fun time with their dart machines and pool table. Their menu here covers almost all Korean food, so there are plenty of options if you're in the mood for Korean fried chicken, hearty stews, or noodle dishes. And as for the drinks menu, it offers everything from soju, shots and beer to mocktails and spirits.

While the food doesn't stand out compared to the Korean food in Strathfield and Sydney CBD, Soju Social makes up for its fun atmosphere and range of bar drinks. The location's also great if you live in the South West and don't want to trek towards the city for a night out.

Soju Social Menu | Every Kind Of Korean Dish You Can Imagine

The food is a fusion of traditional Korean cuisine and inventive combinations. You'll see classics like Korean fried chicken and bibimbap as well as fun new dishes like stir-fried charcoal squid and hangover seafood ramen.

The service at Soju Social is friendly and spot-on so I can't fault it. However, it's difficult for me to determine the level of service for normal diners as I visited from a PR invite, but I don't believe there should be any issue with service.

Drinks

Mango Soju Slushy with Popping Pearls (alcoholic)

Perfect for those who like fruitiness in their alcohol. This drink is a fun choice, blending the sweetness of mango with the slight buzz of soju. The popping pearls also add a playful touch to the slushy.

Lychee Mint Soju Slushy (alcoholic)

Delicious and refreshing, this slushy combines the subtle sweetness of lychee with a minty coolness, making it a must-try.

Malibu Cocktail with Soju, Malibu, Pineapple, Grenadine

For those who enjoy tropical-based cocktails, this is a solid choice. If you like pineapple, I recommend ordering the Malibu.

Blueberry Makgeolli Drink

Though I didn't get to try this one, it looked amazing. It's a sparkling rice wine with a blueberry twist. If you like sparkling alcoholic drinks, this would be a good option, but it only comes in large jug sizes around the $30 price point.

Berry-Licious Mocktail with Mixed Berries

This mocktail was decent but didn't blow me away, as it reminded me of your usual fruit drink. It's a safe option if you're after something non-alcoholic but different from the usual options.

Food

Vietnamese Fried Chicken with Dipping Sauce

This fascinating fusion dish is great if you're after something a little different. The flavours work surprisingly well, but it may not be for everyone.

Snow Cheese Fried Chicken

As a snow cheese lover, I was thrilled. The chicken was crispy, and all that cheese added that extra indulgence. Not everyone likes snow cheese, but those who do will appreciate it.

Blackbean Noodles with Pork Belly (Jajangmyeon)

These noodles have decent flavouring, though nothing mind-blowing. It's a comforting dish if you're a fan of jajangmyeon and really in the mood for it.

Seafood Pancake with Green Onion

The pancake could've been crispier, as the thick texture made it a bit doughy. This is common in many Korean restaurants, so I would avoid ordering this.

Sweet Chilli Korean Fried Chicken

This was too heavy on the sweet chilli sauce for me, which overpowered the chicken. Unless you don't like the other fried chicken options, I'd avoid this.

Deep-fried oysters with Rocket

It's far from my favourite dish but worth trying if you enjoy fried oysters. That's all there is to it, really.

Bulgogi Bibimbap with Seaweed, Chilli, Chives and Carrot

I'm not a fan of many veggies, and this dish lacked the sizzling touch I usually expect from Bibimbap. Many bibimbaps across Sydney are better, but this is decent enough if you want a bowl of Bibimbap.

Volcano Kimchi Fried Rice with Melted Cheese

The volcano kimchi fried rice is a dream for cheese lovers, but eat it before it sticks to the sizzling plate. I would order this again if my fellow diners also enjoy cheese.

Fried Seaweed Roll with Spicy Dipping Sauce

This crispy vegetarian option is quite enjoyable. I would order this if I was vegetarian, but otherwise would skip.

Fishcake Soup with Greens and Mushroom

I would only recommended this dish for those who enjoy light soups and fish cakes, or if you're after something soupy. For me, it wouldn't be one of my go-to choices.

Whole Chicken Soup with Noodles Hotpot

The broth is really flavourful, and the chicken falls off the bone. This was surprisingly better than I expected! Be sure to enjoy it with the handmade noodles.

Corn Cheese on Sizzling Plate

You can't go wrong with this simple, classic Korean side dish. I will never fault this dish, ever (but that's just me loving my corn).

Artistically Presented Steamed Mushrooms Vegetable Basket

This is more of a visual treat than a practical dish, as the mushrooms cook unevenly due to their overloaded presentation. But otherwise, it is a really aesthetically pleasing bowl of mushrooms!

RECOMMENDED

  • Drinking (so try to have a designated driver or Uber plans ahead of time)
  • Good place to hang out over a game of darts or pool
  • Whole chicken soup with noodles hotpot
  • Korean fried chicken with your favourite flavouring

Final Words

Soju Social is a good pick if you're after a lively hangout spot in the South West with a mix of Korean food, fun activities, and a trendy atmosphere.

It's more about the overall experience here, where you can enjoy decent Korean dishes alongside drinks and entertainment in a relaxed setting.
