Venchi shines bright in The Galeries, a lively hub known for its lovely restaurants and retail shops. This gelateria boasts a striking golden interior that mirrors the luxury of its offerings. Daily-made gelato promises freshness, while an impressive collection of Venchi chocolates stretches up to the ceiling, showcasing the brand's dedication to cocoa craftsmanship.
While Venchi may not claim the title of Sydney's best gelato, its wide variety of chocolate and hazelnut gelato stands out, particularly appealing to fans of these rich, milky flavours. Although diverse and appealing, the range of fruity options tends to fall short of the standard set by their chocolate counterparts, often tasting overly syrupy and excessively sweet. I recommend choosing their chocolate-based flavours as that is their specialty.

Venchi's gelato pricing feels reasonable compared to other gelato in the city, with $7 fetching you two flavours and $8.5 for three, all served in a gourmet cone dipped in chocolate and your choice of grains.
However, the scoop sizes could be slightly bigger. I ordered 4 scoops in a large cone but it doesn't appear to be much (I was expecting a grand gesture of 4 scoops I could see sticking out).
Despite this, the variety of flavours, especially the chocolate-based ones like Gianduiotto and Ricotta & Chocolate Gelato, provides a decadent chocolatey treat for those popping through The Galleries or heading to the nearby Town Hall train station.
Is It Worth Breaking Your Diet For Venchi's Gelato & Chocolates?
Venchi's service is notably swift, supported by a friendly team that manages the random rushes by pushing through and getting the service done. This is complimented with a gold-coated seating area, offering a stylish open area to indulge in your gelato joys. The chocolate and hazelnut options particularly stand out from every flavour. I recommend having a sample for their decadent and harmonious blend of flavours. Or, be like me and order takeaway tubs!
Cappuccino Gelato
This flavour is among my favourites. The Cappuccino Gelato perfectly captures the essence of a freshly brewed cup, with its robust coffee flavour complemented by a creamy texture. It's the perfect affogato coffee merged together.
Gianduiotto Venezuela (Chocolate & Hazelnut)
An absolute delight, this gelato masterfully balances the rich intensity of Venezuelan chocolate with the nutty, aromatic undertones of hazelnut, making it a must-try for chocolate devotees. There are also several other hazelnut gelato flavours from Venchi, so you're bound to find a good hazelnut chocolate.
Ricotta & Chocolate Gelato
The concept of combining ricotta with chocolate is ingenious. Unfortunately, the subtlety of the ricotta was overshadowed by the more dominant chocolate flavour, leaving its full potential unexplored. The ricotta must be much more prominent so it will be noticeable.
Mango Gelato
Despite its syrupy aftertaste, the Mango Gelato still delivers a pleasant taste reminiscent of ripe mangoes, offering a tropical treat in every scoop. Mango lovers like myself will likely enjoy this flavour.
If you need your mango fix, I'd highly recommend checking out Mango CoCo Cafe in Haymarket.
Tangerine & Passionfruit
This gelato offers an intriguing blend of tangerine and passionfruit, providing a unique but not overly remarkable flavour profile. This could benefit from a more noticeable tropical hit from either fruit.
Strawberry Gelato
The Strawberry Gelato was noticeably sweet and had a syrupy consistency. There is some authentic strawberry flavour shining through, but it does get overpowered by the syrup. However, it's a pretty good treat for berry lovers.
Lychee Gelato
This option caters well to those who appreciate the distinctive taste of lychee in their desserts. However, this has an artificial syrupy consistency, making it overly sweet.

Final Words
Venchi presents a delightful treat for those seeking a blend of Italian gelato craftsmanship and chocolate indulgence. While the fruit flavours might be overly sweet for some, the chocolate selections are where Venchi truly shines, making it a worthwhile stop for anyone near Town Hall and craving a decadent treat for dessert.
