Does this spot match the hype?

An assortment of 10 sushi pieces and 8 sashimi pieces, including salmon nigiri, tuna nigiri, prawn nigiri, salmon sashimi, and tuna sashimi, artistically presented

TL; DR | Summary

Zushi in Barangaroo is a bustling hotspot known for its outdoor seating and lively atmosphere, especially during lunch. Their sashimi and sushi set are a delight as they offer a range of fresh seafood, and the sashimi tacos present a unique, DIY-style dipping adventure. However, the wagyu bento may not hit the mark in terms of value for money. At Zushi, it's about picking the right menu items, but otherwise, a solid sushi spot if you are okay with spending a hefty amount of $$$.

Zushi Barangaroo Review

@bestspots.com.au Zushi in Barangaroo is a bustling hotspot ⬇️⁣ ⁣ This restaurant is known for its outdoor seating and lively atmosphere, especially during lunch 😀⁣ ⁣ Their sashimi and sushi set 🍣 are a delight as they offer a range of fresh seafood, and the sashimi tacos 🌮 present a unique, DIY-style dipping adventure. It's a must-try item for pure fresh sashimi and avocado treat! 🤩⁣ ⁣ However, I found the ~$50 wagyu bento does not hit the mark in terms of value for money 😤⁣ ⁣ But at Zushi, it's about picking the right menu items, but otherwise, a solid sushi spot if you are okay with spending a hefty amount of $$$ for an upscale Japanese feed 👌⁣ ⁣ 📕 To unravel the whole Zushi experience, find it under "Zushi" in bestspots.com.au⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #zushi #barangaroo #sushilove #sushiaddict #sydneysushi ♬ Careless Whisper - George Michael

Located in the busy Barangaroo district, Zushi stands out as a vibrant and popular destination, particularly renowned for its exceptional outdoor seating. This modern and chic eatery is fully sheltered, allowing diners to enjoy the lively atmosphere of Barangaroo regardless of the weather.

In addition, the restaurant's spacious layout with ample seating ensures that finding a table is rarely a concern - despite its popularity. As a go-to spot for many, Zushi captures the essence of Sydney's dynamic dining scene with its lively ambience and a energetic uptown setting.

As it's just a short walk from Wynyard station, it is easily reachable for those relying on public transport. For those driving, parking options near Barangaroo are plentiful, adding convenience.

However, it's important to note that dining at Zushi will likely be pricey. It's easy to spend upwards of $100, especially if you're keen to explore the variety of dishes and drinks. While this might be steep for some, the quality of food, the ambience, and the overall experience will justify the expenditure for the picky foodie.

Diverse Zushi Menu & Surprisingly Prompt Service

The promptness of service at Zushi is noteworthy, especially given the restaurant's size and the crowd it draws. Customers are taken in swiftly, and the food is served promptly. This guarantees that diners can enjoy their meals without prolonged waiting.

Zushi's Barangaroo menu goes beyond the conventional take on sushi. While sushi is a key highlight, the menu is diverse, featuring a variety of hot entrees, mains, and sides. From the piping hot bibimbap and fresh Zushi bento to the unique offering of corn ribs, there's something to satisfy a range of tastes and preferences. The few vegetarian options, though limited, are thoughtfully crafted to ensure the plant based crowd feels included.

Fun Fact!

Zushi is ranked #8 in my Best Sushi Restaurants in Sydney list. Find out which restaurant ranked #1.

A unique and memorable dish is the sashimi tacos. This innovative take combines the freshness of sashimi with the zest of yuzu granita and the creaminess of avocado, served alongside corn tortillas. It's a DIY dish that invites diners to select their preferred toppings, making for a fun and engaging eating experience. This dish's balance of textures and flavours is a clear indicator of Zushi's creative culinary approach.

The sashimi + sushi set is a highlight, showcasing their fresh and expertly prepared seafood. Each piece, from the salmon belly to the sea bream nigiri, is a testament to the chefs' skill and the ingredients' quality. The sashimi selection, with its fresh salmon, tuna, and kingfish cuts, is truly a delight for seafood lovers.

However, only some dishes hit the mark in terms of value. The Wagyu bento, for instance, at $50 as their special menu item, doesn't quite justify its price point, leaving a bit to be desired when it comes to the cost-to-satisfaction ratio.

As for drinks, I've tried their Yuzu Fresco, which is a refreshing choice. However, it does lose its charm throughout the meal.

Final Words

Zushi in Barangaroo is well-known as a place for sushi. With its easy accessibility, vast menu offerings, and ample space, it caters to a wide range of dining needs and preferences. While it excels in atmosphere and most of its menu, some items may fall short in value. Nonetheless, Zushi remains a top choice for those seeking quality Japanese cuisine in a bustling, stylish outdoor setting. Whether you're planning a casual lunch, a business meeting, or a special dinner, Zushi provides a setting that's both lively and will likely hit the mark if you order the right menu items.
