@bestspots.com.au Enjoy a little taste of Korea 🇰🇷 with some of the best Bingsoo 🍧 you'll find in Sydney - old-school style! ⁣ Generously served in Pyrex jugs, you'll feast on flavours such as melon, green tea, and coffee ☕️. With 11 flavours and a massive serving size for up to 9 people 🤯, it's the perfect icy dessert to share! 👌⁣ ⁣ ➡️ For the full details go to bestspots.com.au 📕⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #westernsydneyfoodie#sydneyfoodie#thefoodblog#sydneymustvisit#wheretogoinsydney ♬ Collide (sped up) - Justine Skye

Conveniently located near Strathfield station, Cafe Crop is a fantastic place to grab a quick bite or dessert on your way home from work. The cafe has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, with lots of outdoor seating and full coverage with tarps for wet weather.

There's plenty of coffee, tea, juice, and frappes on the menu, so you can enjoy a nice hot drink with your icy treat.

Their Bingsoo selection is impressive, with both fruity and milky flavours to try. The sizes are also very generous, perfect for sharing between friends.

With a late closing of 10pm on weekdays and 10:30pm on weekends, it's the ideal place to visit for desserts. There's also a good number of wet weather-resistant seats, making it perfect for groups even when it's busy.

Strathfield Cafe Food & Service

There's nothing worse than endlessly waiting for your meal. That's not the case at Cafe Crop. Service is efficient! You order at the counter and get a table number. Then, pick where you would like to sit.

The cafe is spacious with plenty of outdoor seating. Whether it's a hot sunny day in Summer or a cooler Winter's night, the cafe has you covered. Literally! The tarps over the outdoor seating make this a great all-year cafe.

Now for the Bingsoo (or Bingsu or Patbingsu). This is a tasty Korean shaved ice dessert served with sweet toppings such as condensed milk, fruit, and red beans. The serving sizes range from small single serves to large sizes that feed up to 9 people! So, there's a Pyrex glass full of dessert for every kind of group size.

There's a small range of flavours to choose from such as mango, strawberry, melon, green tea, and injoelmi (rice cake). You'll want to visit multiple times to try all the flavours.

Did you know condensed milk goes well in a Patbingsu? The cafe also offers complimentary bottles full of this essential add-on to complement your sweet tooth. However, the Bingsu is essentially perfect already, so you may opt not to add it. You'll have a good time regardless.

Pricing

As with most cafes, the bigger the size the more cost effective it is. So, I believe you'll get better value for money for your Bingsu by visiting in a group.

See the pricing below for reference:

  • Mini (single serving) $14.50
  • Small (2-3 people) $20
  • Medium (4-5 people) $35
  • Large (6-9 people) $55

Crop's Bingsu is one of the most affordable in Sydney. The amount you get is definitely worth the money, as they're generous with their servings!

Melon Snow Boy

If you love melon, this is the dish for you! It comes with balls of honeydew, mochi, and matching syrups. To top it off, there's a big scoop of ice cream, making it a refreshing and satisfying treat.

The ice cream has changed throughout the years, but fingers crossed you get either melona or honeydew ice cream over plain vanilla ice cream.

Mango Snow Boy

The Mango Snow Boy tastes like the ultimate Summer dessert. What's not to love about fresh mango pieces, mango sauce, and mochi?

The sweetness of the mango combined with the shaved ice makes for a refreshing and delicious dessert.

I recommend ordering this when mango is in season (September to April / Spring to Summer).

Tiramisu Snow Boy

My new personal favourite. The Tiramisu Snow Boy is a unique take on the classic Italian dessert. The shaved ice is flavoured with coffee and topped with one of the most delicious coffee ice creams I've encountered, jelly pieces, and mochi bites.

It's the perfect take on tiramisu as Patbingsu!

RECOMMENDED

  • Tiramisu Snow Boy
  • Melon Snow Boy
  • Mango Snow Boy
  • Trying out other Snow Boy flavours!

Final Thoughts

Bingsoo is a simple dessert of shaved ice and toppings, but it's the perfect dessert to have on a hot day. The service at Cafe Crop is efficient, and the seating suits different group sizes, so it's a great place to catch up with friends.
