TL; DR | Summary

A cafe located in Penrith that is worth the travel. With lovely seating and a menu that will fascinate any diner, Henri Marc is a special gem. The service can be slow during peak hour but the focus is on quality over quantity. I've visited again and again and it has yet to disappoint.

Almost every dish come with a unique spin that will make sure you'll never be bored at Henri Marc.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #sydneyfoodiediaries#sydneyeatstreet#sydneydelicious#restaurantssydney#placestovisitsydney ♬ Love You So - The King Khan & BBQ Show

I have visited this cafe numerous times over the span of several years and I continue to go back. The cafe has lovely indoor and outdoor seating and the atmosphere will brighten your mood every time.

The selection of drinks does not fall short with options such as maple lattes, hot chocolate served steamy hot or shaken over ice, house made shakes and sodas, as well as a wide range of teas.

However, the food menu is where this cafe shines the most. They have a beautiful range of intriguing dishes such as confit pork belly tacos, charred cauliflower salad, and poppy seed waffle. With the exception of a few dishes, the food really stands out.

The Henri Marc menu changes every so often so there is always something new to try. It's made dining here all the more exciting over the years.

It's very popular during peak hour so plan ahead and expect longer wait times. Although the service can be slow at times, the quality of food makes up for it.

Food & Service

Let's begin with the more than fascinating drink selection! Their coffee and drinks alone feature:

  • Iced black or white coffee with the choice of adding cream or ice cream
  • Iced almond & maple latte
  • Warm spice tea
  • Dragon well tea
  • Henri hot choc with marshmallows and whipped cream
  • Hot chocolate, either hot or shaken over ice
  • House made shakes (salt & caramel, vanilla bean & malt, strawberry nesquik, milo)
  • Grapefruit & strawberry house soda
  • Seasonal punch
  • Plus all your usual cafe favourites!

I personally recommend choosing a beverage to accompany your meal and one of my favourites is the Henri Hot Choc. Not only is the hot chocolate of high calibre, it also comes with three toasty marshmallows and a generous amount of whipped cream. What's not to love?

Over the years, the menu has always had a few interesting dishes, making it hard to choose what to eat. From the salad to any protein main, I can assure that they will be unique and delight your taste buds.

The service speed is pretty average but the customer service is always good. When it's busy, your food can take some time to reach your table. However, your meal is guaranteed to be fresh, hot, and delicious despite the wait.

Charred Cauliflower - w/ Smoked Hummus, Fried Egg, Pomegranate, Herbs, Spiced Chermoula, Dukkah

The charred cauliflower comes with smoked hummus, fried egg, pomegranate, herbs, spiced chermoula, and dukkah.

From the moment you lay your eyes on this dish you'll see that a lot of effort has gone into the presentation. The combination of flavours and textures is creative and complex and makes for a tasty dish. It's a fantastic healthy start to the day.

Sourdough Bread - w/ Candied Citrus, Ricotta, Brown Butter & Walnuts on Toasted

This is probably the most interesting take on a slice of sourdough bread you'll come across. It's the kind of experience you won't find anywhere else as it's a mysterious mix. This sourdough has an interesting combination of ricotta, candied orange, walnut crumble, and brown butter that surprisingly works well!

The sourdough pairs well with the creamy ricotta and crunchy walnut crumble. In addition, the candied orange came with the rind added an interesting bitter flavour but not overly so. They somehow made the unedible aspect of an orange, edible!

It's an intriguing take especially with the orange slices being candied and combined with ricotta. Who knew oranges and ricotta could go so well?

RECOMMENDED

  • Henri Hot Choc
  • Coffee of your choosing
  • Charred Cauliflower
  • Any menu item that sounds intriguing to you
